Secretary of Education-designate Arne Duncan began confirmation hearings today with a stop at the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Duncan is expected to have any easy ride to confirmation but the Senators spoke up about the importance of addressing high school graduation rates and failing schools. In general No Child Left Behind didn’t get much discussion, through the law will soon come up for reauthorization — something that’s like to touch off quite a contentious battle.
